Try to knock out these quick tasks in short bursts throughout the day, like doing the dishes after meals or folding laundry while the kids play.  Purchase a magnetic chore list that you can stick on your refrigerator.  It’s perfect for keeping track of cleaning and can be shared with the entire family.  
  • Weekly cleaning schedule: Divide bigger chores (like vacuuming, deep cleaning the bathroom, or mopping floors) into specific days. It can teach responsibility and lighten your load.  I started with having my kids pick up toys when they were small.  Now that they’re a little older, they can take on chores like making their bed or emptying the garbage or even vacuuming.

This is also a great time for errands such as grocery shopping.  Your kids will be more awake and less likely to act out in the store. 
  • Quiet time/nap time: Every child needs a bit of downtime, and so do you. Use this time to read, do puzzles, or exercise if they’re not napping. You can also use this break to rest, catch up on chores, or indulge in some “me-time.”
  • Afternoon activities: Plan arts and crafts, simple sensory play, or light outdoor activities to wind down the day.

  • Wind-down time: Establish a bedtime routine for the kids that includes quiet activities like reading, brushing teeth, and talking about the day. A nighttime bath can also help kids wind down after a busy day.
  • Plan for tomorrow: Before you go to bed, spend a few minutes preparing for the next day. Lay out clothes, pack lunches, or create a quick to-do list so that you wake up feeling ready to tackle the day.
